Our church is located at the Waikuku settlement on the Main North Road 20 km north of Christchurch. Originally a Methodist church, built 7 December 1899, it is just over 100 years old and seats about 80 people. There were only five in the Methodist congregation when I approached the minister for the use of their church. After I explained how I felt the Lord was leading me to preach the gospel, the members took a vote and agreed that I could use the church. I started holding services on 11 December 1983 with my wife and two sons, but over the years the Lord has added to our numbers and there are now about 60 people who fellowship with us. In 1991 we formed a trust and purchased the church from the Methodists.
